Misty Mount Si
posted by flyingroc on 08/03/08

Some folks from work, and a couple of others went on a hike to Mount Si yesterday. It was good exercise, and a lot of "atmosphere." The 4-mile trek to the top(ish) was a bit of a challenging hike for me, being quite out of shape after almost a year of slouching in front of a computer. My calves are still hurting.

It seemed almost everyone got overboard with carrying water though. Donny must've been bringing at least 4 liters with him alone, in addition to various pieces of clothing, a first aid kit, a jacket, lunch, and candy bars.

The drive from the city to Mount Si is less than an hour, so it's a popular hiking destination for Seattleites. There were lots of people on the trail, and sometimes it felt quite crowded for a nature hike. It was foggy and cold at the top though, which made the scenery quite dramatic. As if a t-rex or a yeti was lurking just behind the mist.

Yeah, it was cool. But it would also have been nice to have seen the vista from the top.

Looks like a hard scenic climb. I am sure it's a tougher trek than the Stone Mountain in Atlanta :)
